Hidden Kisses | Recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies
As Valentine’s Day approaches, I decided to sift through my collection of recipes and stumbled upon a delightful one. I discovered this recipe that I clipped from a magazine over 20 years ago but had yet to try.
I thought it was time to give it a shot—after all, it features chocolate chip cookies paired with Hershey’s Kisses, which is hard to resist!

The ingredient list is quite straightforward:
-
1 package (9 oz) Hershey’s Kisses
-
1 cup butter, softened
-
1/3 cup granulated sugar
-
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
2 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 cup chocolate chips (the recipe specified mini, but I used regular)

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees while having a friend or family member remove the wrappers from the Kisses. Ethan had fun with this, savoring the few that we didn’t use in the recipe.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add the flour until the mixture is well combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.

Take about a tablespoon of dough, place a Hershey’s Kiss in the center, and carefully shape the dough into a ball around it.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until they are set. Ethan insisted that 10 minutes seemed excessive!

Let the cookies cool for a moment before transferring them from the baking sheet to a wire rack. Allow them to cool completely, or if desired, drizzle with chocolate as outlined below.
Chocolate Drizzle

Combine 1/4 cup chocolate chips with 1 teaspoon of shortening in a bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stir, and if necessary, return to the microwave for an additional 20 seconds until the chocolate melts and is smooth.

The family loved these cookies and immediately requested more. My creativity sparked—dark chocolate chips or perhaps almond Kisses could take these to another level. The possibilities are endless!
