The enthusiasm of sports enthusiasts in Kansas City for the KC Royals is unmistakable. When you arrive at the ballpark, the atmosphere is charged with excitement. Despite the long queues and bright sunshine, every individual we encountered was in high spirits, eagerly anticipating the evening’s events.

On September 3, 2016, this particular game was even more special as it celebrated Bacon Day at K, sponsored by Farmland Foods.
What does that entail?

From the moment we stepped inside, the air was filled with bacon-themed giveaways. We received rally signs emblazoned with “Let’s Go Royals” to exhibit our team spirit during the game.

There were also delightful bacon samples for attendees to enjoy (who wouldn’t want that?!). I was particularly fond of the t-shirts proclaiming Team Chewy and Team Crispy (my personal favorite!).

Our beloved mascot, Sluggerrr, was depicted in bacon and photo opportunities were available at the Sizzle & Snap booth.

For everyone in our group, the highlight was undoubtedly the Salvy Perez bobblehead giveaway.

After settling down in our seats, we explored the activities. The kids enjoyed trying to guess how many bacon strips it took to recreate Slugerrr for a chance to win a year’s supply of free bacon!

They also had the chance to meet Mike Sweeney, a five-time All-Star and the 26th inductee into the Royals Hall of Fame.

What stood out most to me among the activities was the Royals Charities 50/50 Raffle.
Why? Because not only did the winning ticket holder earn a year’s supply of free Farmland bacon, but half the proceeds went to Harvesters – The Community Food Network. In addition, Farmland committed to matching the raffle proceeds with a donation of up to 25,000 pounds of protein to the local food bank.
Farmland not only produces excellent bacon, but they also engage in meaningful community initiatives. Our night was filled with joy, and our local food bank benefitted from a significant protein donation for families in need. What better conclusion could there be to a fantastic evening?

This looks like an incredible event! There are few things better than baseball, but bacon certainly ranks high!
