For some of you, the phrase “back to school” feels like a loud alarm bell—after all, summer has just arrived, right? Indeed! However, if you want to get a head start and keep some cash in your pocket, it’s wise to plan ahead.

Having purchased school supplies for almost 18 years, I’ve gathered a handful of helpful tips throughout the years.

Strategies for Budget-Friendly BTS Supplies

  • Begin your shopping early… items such as dry erase markers tend to sell out in August.
  • Look for discounts… there are some excellent offers available now!
  • Buy in bulk on consumables like pencils, paper, erasers, and glue… even if you don’t use them this year, they’re sure to come in handy next year.
  • Select durable products that can withstand the school year. My son tends to ruin cheaper binders by November.
  • Choose items that your children are excited about… they are more likely to care for them better!

I’ve noticed that less expensive binders often become unusable in a few months. That’s why we switched to buying high-quality binders like those from Avery. With their new Ultralast line, I’m confident my son won’t be asking for a new binder by November—unless it’s for a completely different reason!

Ethan can make do with the Avery Core line, as he’s not particularly picky about designs and tends to take good care of his belongings. On the other hand, the Glitter and Fashion line will be perfect for my daughter Emma, who loves to express her style.

Emma was ecstatic to find the GLITTERY binders from Avery’s newest Glitter and Fashion line on the table and wasted no time in claiming them. They add sparkle and pizzazz without making a mess of glitter all over her backpack like last year’s supplies. That’s a significant advantage in my opinion!

Part of the excitement of going back to school lies in assembling your supplies. With Avery dividers, Emma can remain organized while showcasing her personal flair.

You can locate Avery binders and labels for your kids at nearby retailers. Any of the binders from the Core, Glitter & Fashion, and Ultralast collections would be a great choice.

SWEEPSTAKES ALERT!!

Picture receiving a box filled with school supplies right at your door! You can enter the Avery weekly Back to School Sweepstakes throughout July and August 2015 for a chance to make that happen. The joy on my children’s faces when I unveiled the box was priceless—they couldn’t wait to get their binders organized.

Good luck to everyone!

Staples frequently offers “doorbuster” deals (often on just a few select items). Since it’s fast approaching, I visit every week to grab the specials. By the start of school, we usually have almost everything we need!

You’re absolutely right—less expensive binders can be quite flimsy! I generally find that investing a bit more on quality stationery is worthwhile. That said, I still love taking advantage of savings during the back-to-school season, even though my kids are already grown.

I entered because I’m hoping to win the iPad Air. If I do win that, I’ll donate the school supplies to my local school.

Staples significantly aids me in saving a lot during back-to-school shopping. If they run out of an item, I head to Walmart to do some price matching. It’s really effective. I’m excited to enter the Avery back to school giveaway—it sounds like a lot of fun!
